Thursday Thirteen #2

Thirteen Things I Do When I Stay Up Too Late

1. Read. If I get sucked into a good book, I've sometimes been known to stay up until I finish it. Even if I finish it at 3:30 AM and the alarm is going off at 6:00 AM.

2. Take a bubble bath. Sometimes this is just necessary, no matter what time of day it is.

3. Have an adult beverage (or three). Again, sometimes this is just necessary.

4. Logic puzzles. You know, the puzzles you used to get as problems on standardized tests, "A must sit next to B but will not sit next to C. B has to have D to her left. E will not sit next to A or F, but will sit next to D. What is the seating arrangement for A, B, C, D, E and F?" Yes, I admit it, I am a total geek - I actually LIKE those puzzles, buy books of them, and stay up stupid late doing them.

5. Laundry.

6. Dishes.

7. Clean out my car. Which reminds me...that badly needs to be done right now.

8. Think to myself multiple times, "You know, I really should get some sleep."

9. Scan J's photos into the computer and upload them to Shutterfly.

10. Work on job applications.

11. Make fun mixes on iTunes and burn CD's of them.

12. Try for the 467589532958th time to dejunk my kitchen table for once and for all.

13. Play on the computer. What, you didn't see that one coming?

Good list. I've been known to stay up reading too late also, knowing I have to get up in a few hours and than even less hours, but still unable to put the book down.

I can't believe you stay up late on the computer! Who in their right mind would do that??? Oh... nevermind (it's only 12:43am here now...) Lisa you amaze me tho- I stay up too late doing lots of stuff but none of it is as productive as most of your stay up late stuff! If I were actually getting stuff done, I probably wouldn't worry about my nightowlness nearly so much! great TT -- I might have to steal this idea in a few weeks - so thanks for the inspiration and thanks for stopping by mine :)

oh, and re: Buffy - no, it will still be good even tho it is my least favorite - remember that we're still talking Buffy/Joss Whedon-territory here! Plus many people do not agree with me on this view about season 7 :) -- you'll have to let me know what you think when you get there!

Susan, I promise, I spend way more time goofing around when I'm up late than I do on anything productive! LOL If I spent more time doing the truly productive things, my house would be a lot neater.

And I'll definitely let you know what I think of season 7. I'm still not sure how I missed Buffy when it was on network TV - just not paying attention, I guess. I love it.

I do all of those late into the night. Sometimes it means that I forget to head off to sleep. Ooops.

Great list! I thought we were twins until you got to laundry and dishes -- I put those off until the last possible second.

Lisa @ The Plain-Spoken Pen said...

I put them off until I just can't stand them anymore, which is why I usually end up doing them late at night. Something just snaps and I decide the piles of laundry MUST be dealt with!

I'd go for # 1, 2, and 13.

Hey, you're in good company! Tonight is a perfect example. I should be in bed, but what am I doing? I just uploaded my 13 list and I'm cruising other 13 sites while watching Conan O'Brien!

Happy TT, and great list! Main two things I do when I stay up late are (1) read a good book or (2) play on the computer. And so often I stay awake reading way later than I intended because I keep telling myself, just a few more pages, just a few more... and a few more pages becomes seventy-five or a hundred or more... ;)

My TT is up!

#5, #6 and #7 would never occur to me in a million years when I can't sleep! I can barely get to them when I'm wide awake and full of energy.

My Mom loves those logic puzzles too...and now she is addicted to Kokuru which she is says is like Soduku, but for smarter people!

Chickadee said...

If I've got a good book, I"ll stay up too late reading it. I also stay up too late playing computer game. :)

My 13 is up.

LOL! Where was this list when I needed it last night :) !! I, too, stay up way too late at night reading and blogging.

Happy TT.

You voluntarily play logic games, even when not forced to do so for SAT or LSAT prep?? You are a strange one. :) Thanks for visiting my TT, and good for you for working on your applications. I need to start that asap.

Lisa @ The Plain-Spoken Pen said...

Buttercup, I freely admit I'm a freak when it comes to logic puzzles. And I did plenty of them in preparation for the SAT and LSAT - I was the only person I knew who *liked* that part of any exam. :-)

Oh Great list... I love Bubble bath !!!

Happy TT !!!

Thanks for stopping by my TT!

I think that having an adult beverage (or three) helps me to fall asleep when I can't seem to do it on my own. Wine will do the trick every time!

You know, if you are strangely compelled to devote countless hours to #s 4 and 13, you'd better not discover the world of online logic puzzles!

I've been known to get into trouble over my fascination with logic problems and computer play, especially in the middle of the night. It really drives my husband bonkers; he rues the day I discovered those addicting websites!

I can relate to so many on this list!

Number 8 is what I usually do. Or 13 ;)

I'm definitely a late night blog-reader - I usually make a plan to go to bed early then take the laptop up with me and read blogs until some obscene hour. Not a great idea when your toddler wakes up at 6am!

Great list - mine's up too, stop by if you get a moment! Happy TT!

I like logic puzzles, too. :D

Thanks for visiting my TT!

Only two things keep me up late. Reading and computing. I have become so TiVo-ized that I stop watching a show in the middle and finish when I have time. Plus it is a great advantage to watch a (recorded) hour show in 48 minutes. I can't recall the last time I've seen a commercial at normal speed.

Thanks for stopping by my Thursday Thirteen!

Dang it, Pippajo, I had to go and look for those online logic puzzle sites last night. That's part of the reason I was up until 3 AM! And so a new addiction is born....
